OUR STORY
Belén began in April 2021 with a certified home kitchen, a farmers market, and a vision – to prove there are no limits to what can be created with plants. Passionate about people, pastry and the planet, owners Mica and Chris soon quit their day-jobs and set out to build a new breed of bakery.

We aspire to have as little environmental impact as possible.
This means doing our best to select products and companies that are local, organic and have a low carbon footprint.
It’s also the little things like composting our food scraps, donating excess food and managing our recyclables correctly - including milk cartons, which are recycled into building materials!

We aspire to be a kind and compassionate community.
This means showing love and respect to all beings that walk among us. It’s why we work with cruelty-free, fair-trade products and companies. It’s why we will never pay our staff less than the living wage. And it’s why we will always look out for each and every one of you!

Kaicycle urban composting are absolute superstars - picking up our food scraps by bicycle to compost and grow new food, right here in Wellington!

The Free Store
The Free Store is an incredible initiative. Volunteers collect surplus food from Wellington eateries and redistributes it from a repurposed shipping container to whoever needs it, completely free!

Save Board
Our milk cartons don’t go to landfills, they get made into sustainable building materials. We think that is very cool.

We partner with the legends at Nocar Cargo, who will pedal your catering order straight to your door, emissions free!

The most caring coffee company around. Good Forune is an organic, fair-trade, living-wage company that roasts the best beans you can put in a cup.

What goes around comes around. Karma ethically sources ingredients and looks after those that grow them, and of course they taste great!
